- Please introduce yourself and briefly describe your background?
Hello everyone, my name is Manu Bishnoi and I am from the MSc in Strategy & Organisation Consultancy batch of 2013. I am 29 years old and before coming to EDHEC I had been working with Accenture post my bachelor's in Engineering. Since EDHEC, I have been working with Technique Solaire, a French company based in Poitiers to develop solar power projects in India.
- How did your company come about?
It was a regular day at EDHEC in 2013 when I met an alumni, Thomas De Moussac, who had come for a guest interaction with current students. Thomas after working with the MNC's for few years had started Technique Solaire with two other EDHEC alumnus Julien & Lionel in 2008. Technique Solaire works on developing & installing solar power in France. We interacted a bit about his work and later I contacted him about this idea of working together to develop solar projects in India. Thomas invited me to give a presentation on prospects and current scenario of solar power in India. I prepared a presentation and went to Paris to meet Thomas & Lionel. They liked the idea and offered me an internship to work on solar market in India. I worked at Technique Solaire's Poitiers office for 6 months and then moved to India to set up the Indian subsidiary (JLTM Energy India Private Limited) with Technique Solaire in 2014. We have successfully completed our first project in India which is a 5.5MW solar plant located in Uttarakhand, India.
- What are your prospects for growth?
The prospects of solar sector in India is huge. Most of the global companies in solar sector are present in India amongst them the only french companies being EDF/EREN, Engie, Fonroche & Technique Solaire. We have just made a proof of concept by completing this first 5.5MW project in India to showcase to our investors. We plan to develop bigger projects in coming months.
- Have you ever benefited from the network of EDHEC graduates?
I started this entrepreneurial work along with the EDHEC alumni so I clearly benefited from EDHEC network since the beginning.
- What are your expectations from the network?
If anyone from the network is interested in investing & developing green energy projects in India or any other part of the world then we can discuss mutual synergies. There is huge prospects for green/alternate energy in developing countries.
Technique Solaire has recently won last week close to 22MW of solar projects in France and today we launched a part of the financing for our projects through crowdfunding. It is only a very small proportion of total funding requirements which comes through our bankers and our own investments. Participatory financing (Crowdfunding) allows individuals and companies to invest in renewable energy projects and thus contribute to the development of greener electricity while drawing attractive economic returns.
