“Coaching helped me structure my transition period”
Marina Manning, EDHEC Master 2001, started a coaching process as part of a career transition combined with a relocation from France to the United Kingdom.
She was already familiar with the EDHEC Alumni support scheme, notably through the free one-hour guidance session offered each year, which she regularly used to step back with the help of a supportive professional while staying connected with EDHEC.
“I see this moment as a privileged opportunity to take a step back with a supportive professional, and also as a way to stay connected with EDHEC, which I see as a vibrant and dynamic organisation.”
When her transition became more concrete, she decided to go further by joining the coaching programme.
The process begins with an initial meeting to clarify the need and the framework, after which alumni can meet several coaches in order to identify the one whose profile best matches their expectations. In her case, she chose a coach based in her destination country, which made particular sense for her project.
“Each conversation, whether during the initial meetings or throughout the coaching sessions with the selected coach, is a source of learning.”
Over three to four months, regular meetings allowed her to structure her transition period, plan her next steps and prioritise her actions.
“Having these regular meetings created real discipline, helping me plan, prioritise and move forward in a clearer and more confident way.”
Today, she has started a new role in the country she was targeting, in the sector and type of position she was aiming for.
“That is why I sincerely recommend this service to other alumni: it provides structured, supportive and practical guidance, particularly valuable during periods of transition or professional reflection.”
