The Class of 1961 visits the EDHEC Campus in Croix - 17 January 2012
"Our Class, which was at EDHEC in Lille in its original premises at 67 boulevard Vauban, opposite the Catho, was very impressed with the new Campus, the School’s dynamism and its reputation, both in France and abroad. Your students are very lucky to have such magnificent premises and so much space and facilities.
Below is the list of those present from our Class of 61:
- from the Nord: Sabine Charmette; Jacqueline Déan; Marc Duprez; Paul-Dominique Ferrant; Danièle Happe; Marc et Bernadette Landrieu; Gabriel Toulemonde.
- from Paris: François Cantenot; Gilbert and Michèle Duquenne; Yves-Louis Gegout; Charles Lecellier.
Some other members of the Class sent their apologies as they were unable to join us.
We had a great lunch in the Brasserie restaurant on the EDHEC campus.
After that, we went to discover the Modern Art museum, the LAM, and its collections in Villeneuve d'Ascq. As we didn’t have a lot of time, we only saw the Modern Art and Contemporary Art sections. All in all, we very much enjoyed the modern art section, where we admired works by Picasso, Miro, Rouault, Modigliani ... and even Dubuffet. As for the contemporary art section, well let’s just say opinions differed!
For those of us able to make it, the day gave us a great opportunity to meet up without having to wait for the next annual meeting at the end of September. Our alumni group from the Class of 61 has been enjoying annual meetings at around this time of year, every year for the last 10 years, each time in a different region for a few days given over to friendship and tourism. In 2011, we'll be in Lyon to celebrate our Class’ fiftieth anniversary. This year, our friends Gilbert and Michèle Duquenne are preparing something special for us in Carnac and the surrounding area, from 24 to 27 September 2012."
A great lesson in dynamics for all generations of Edhec alumni...
