As Edhec alumni travel far and wide, and because the network is active around the world, the Edhec Alumni ambassadors decided to organise an International Welcome Party on 4 October.
A Global Welcome Party
In 2012, 30 ambassadors from 30 communities in 30 cities organised a Welcome Party to welcome and integrate new Edhec people (students and alumni) who have just moved to a new town or country. From Seoul to New York, newcomers could meet, chat and network in the space of one evening.
The Welcome Parties are a great way to get the academic year off to a good start in all the Edhec communities worldwide.
In Paris, the evening was also used to tell the alumni about all of the professional, sports and leisure clubs. Almost 200 alumni made their way to 'Le Centorial' Paris campus to discover or rediscover the different communities and to meet their ambassadors.
"Adopt a student" scheme
35% of students on EDHEC campuses are international students and often know very little about France and its culture. This led to the idea of encouraging EDHEC alumni to take a foreign student under their wing so to speak.
After answering a series of questions on their expectations, their career plans and how they like to spend their free time, the students were paired off with an alumnus who matched their profile. The first meetings took place in the Kod Bar for Roubaix and on the Nice Campus during the Welcome Party.
60 students from India, China and Russia had a chance to meet their ‘match’ over a beer or glass of wine. Now they can meet whenever they feel like it to have a meal, go out somewhere or visit something at any time during the academic year.
Our newly arrived international students are now in good hands, and there’s a strong chance that they too will one day help out an EDHEC student somewhere in the world…
