On 14 September 2010, Martin Saulnier-Arrighi (2009), EDHEC Real Estate Club ambassador, welcomed over 30 members from the real estate business, investment, finance and asset management, to the 37the floor of Tour CB 21 in La Défense. "Edhec people are entering the real estate business increasingly early,” Martin Saulnier-Arrighi explained. “We founded the Club last December to create a professional community and to share our experience."
The morning’s programme included a visit around one of the oldest tower blocks in the Défense. Built in 1974, the building was recently entirely overhauled, with repairs to the façades and modern insulation installed for the 75,000 m² of office space… The 130 billion Euro programme should reduce energy consumption by up to 40%.
After the visit and a few technical questions, the Club members enjoyed a breakfast with a panoramic view over Paris, at the same time catching up with old friends or making new acquaintances while talking shop. "I’m looking for a job in the real estate sector,” one young graduate told us. “It’s the first time I’ve been to an Edhec Alumni event: it’s a great opportunity to extend my network and, I hope, to develop my career plan." Martin Saulnier-Arrighi added: "We’ve seen a hard core of the members coming back to each event since we first opened the club. It’s an excellent sign!"
The next meeting has yet to be confirmed but there will almost certainly be another visit before the end of the year and an information meeting on the state of the real estate market at the beginning of 2011. Moreover, the Club is looking to recruit alumni from the older generations who work in the sector, so if you’re interested do get in touch!
