Interviews

Wecandoo is a social business supporting craftmanship and manual know-how by offering people to step into a craftman’s workshop and build a product with him/her.

Our goal is to provide craftmen with additional visibility and an extra income but also to create an innovative leisure style, a more participative and creative one. As of today, we listed 80 workshops that illustrates the diversity of craftmanship : woodworking, jewelry, shoemaking, bakery, leatherworking or even violin making..

- How came the idea ?

Wecandoo started up while talking with my associate Grégoire at the graduation ceremony. We were both graduated for almost two years and we were a bit bored in our jobs that we considered as too far from reality. We wanted to work on something more concrete. Grégoire was born in Limoges, a small city in the country side where loads of manuel know-how are disappearing and he wanted to help his land. Myself, I always loved using my hands. Grégoire was representing the supply, I was reprensenting the demand !

- What are your first results ?

Starting up and managing a company is all about balancing. It is quite challenging to balance between the investment on the product and the investment on the traction. While focusing on the day to day tasks, you have to keep in mind the long terme vision and goals.

- Did you benefit from the Edhec Network?

Several times yes. We just started a partership with a company created by an EDHEC Alumni (Laurent Lefebvre) named HelloCE. They gather activities for the Comités d’Entreprise and Wecandoo will provide them with some experiences. We also deal on a daily basis with our friends from the 2015’s promo.

- What are your advices ?

Success don’t come up easy and chance has to be pushed to become real. When we started Wecandoo, we met with at least one unknown person per day in order to gather different feedback and opinion on our project. These feedbacks enabled us to build up a product that is close from customers and partners’ expectations.

- What are the next steps for your company ?

We will raise money through a crowdfunding campaign starting on the 12th of september. This campaign will enable us to finance our development in Bordeaux and Lille and also to fund the opening of our showroomin Paris. The location will host DIY workshops, events, pop-up stores and conferences.

- What do you expect from the Edhec Community ?

We need the support of the EDHEC community to make this crowdfunding campaign successful, so please visit our page on KissKissBankBank. You are all invited on the 14th of septembre for the kick-off event at  the Sensecube (Bastille subway station). The event starts at 7.30pm and will host several DIY workshops (woodworking, bookscraping and winemaking), somme beers and a live concert from our luthier Christelle.

Beyond the crowdfunding campaign, we are also interested in meeting with EDHEC alumni working in the tourism and leisure industry. So, if you think there is a fit between our two business, do not hesitate to contact us ????
