This year was a great year for French rugby with the first French championships win for ASM, a new Grand Slam, victory against the Springboks and a total of 12 wins and 4 defeats for Edhec'honneurs! It’s the most successful year since the club was founded. We even had 9 consecutive wins at the end of 2009 against iconic Parisian championship teams like Groland (Canal+), RugBE (Bearingpoint) and the Old Hirelings (former French team players).
The team displayed the key rugby values throughout the year, in other words, team spirit, fighting sprit, solidarity, respect and enjoyment of the game. As every year, the team benefited from the arrival of new Edhec graduates and sandwich year students based in Paris, and it now boasts 12 generations of Edhec with around fifty players from the Class years 2000 to 2011!
The year ended in a more traditional way as we played in the (Re)Belles de Fontenay tournament where the team finished third. The end-of-year dinner was held on the premises of our entrepreneur chef, Emmanuel Cotsoyannis (2003) (www.lesdinersdeloise.fr) where the highlight of the evening was the distribution of the Deplanche Awards.
The first practice for the new season is set for 21 August when the team will begin preparing for the Grandes Ecoles Bouclier des Anciens Rugbymen (BARGE), which will once again be held in Bayonne between 3 and 5 September 2010.
If you miss the scrum or want to know more about this fantastic sport, would like to get ready for the World Cup in New Zealand in 2011 or simply want to understand why the French team players never boycott a practice session, in short, if you’d like to join us at Edhec'honneurs, then contact:
