No more "where are you" thanks to Triber and his founder Mathieur Renaud (Master 2013)
Triber is a compass app that indicates you the distance and direction to follow to find your friends in large and/or crowded places. Its founder, Mathieu Renaud (Master 2013) explain us how the project became real...
EDHEC Alumni: Can you tell us briefly how Triber came about?
Mathieu Renaud : The idea was born during my internship in Australia, when I lost 25 minutes looking for my friends just before the Sydney's New Year's Eve fireworks, I then realised that there were so many similar situations in which it's stressful and time consuming to look for friends in large spaces and large events (sport events, festivals, parks, beaches...). That's how we came out with the idea of Triber: a compass mobile application indicating the distance and direction to follow to find your friends in large events and large spaces. We've been working on its development since November 2014, and are now full time on it since June 2015. Since then, we ended up semi-finalist of the Web2Day Nantes, 2nd of Start in Paris, have been seen on DB, and published on Fun Radio or Oui FM.
What is your initial assessment of this entrepreneurial adventure?
MR : The adventure just starts, but teaches us already so much! We're currently right in the middle of the "shiva" period as they say, touching and trying everything, at a fast pace. Above all, we learn not to fall in love with our product, to make it evolve constantly and differently from what we initially planned, by listening to each other.
Have you ever benefited from the network of EDHEC graduates?
MR : I'm already in contact with the EDHEC Incubator, that can bring me advices, listening and contacts. I'm also working on other projects with an EDHEC, and communicate on a regular basis with other EDHEC entrepreneurs to exchange some tips.
What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs?
MR : It's still early for me to give lessons. But every day, I keep several key words in mind: listen, let go, take risks, excellence, rigor, planning, user-oriented.
What’s next for Triber?
MR : The next step is to develop Triber on Android, along with a fundraising in order to be able to keep on working on the project.
What are your expectations from the community of EDHEC graduates?
MR : Indeed, we are looking for any advice and/or expertise from any experimented EDHEC in the field of mobile applications, along with experience in fundraising, we are also interested in meeting EDHEC Business Angels.
