In January of this year, these two graduates and cycling enthusiasts decided to share their considerable experience on the road by creating their own travel agency for two wheels. Read more about the background and ambitions of Marie-Gabrielle and Cédric.

Can you tell us briefly how CycloGo came about?

Marie-Gabrielle Chéron: Since leaving EDHEC, we (Marie-Gabrielle Chéron, Apprenticeship  2012, and Cédric Selmi, class of 2011) have travelled more than 25,000 km together by bike. Initially on weekends in France or abroad, before deciding to take the plunge. We left behind our house and our jobs and went off cycling for 8 months, covering 16,000 km in North America, where we discovered the joys of the nomadic life, the pleasures of wide open spaces and going beyond our limits. We experienced wonderful adventures every day and met inspiring people. We were definitively won over by travelling on two wheels and so we decided to make the leap by setting up our own company when we returned. Why not use our experience to allow others to discover this unique way of travelling? And so CycloGo was set up in January 2015. Our turnkey holidays allow cyclists to be free of all the constraints of organising a holiday by bike. The agency offers 19 different bike trips in France, from 2 to 7 days and with various levels of difficulty, to meet everyone’s aspirations. Tailor-made holidays for groups, associations or staff outings are also available.

What is your initial assessment of this entrepreneurial adventure?
CycloGo

MGC : Starting your own company is as physically demanding as heading off on your bike, but every bit as exciting! No two days are alike, you develop new skills, and you discover new horizons as you work your way through the entrepreneurship process from start to finish. Many decisions have to be taken, and you have to take them quickly: you work more efficiently than in a company.

Have you ever benefited from the network of EDHEC graduates?

MGC : We haven’t called on the network of graduates yet. We wanted to set up our business as quickly as possible when we came home, before the tourist season began. But we hope to benefit from it in the future!

What advice do you have for young entrepreneurs?

MGC : Setting up your own company means taking risks, it’s essential to have good support around you. You have to be willing to go through times of stress if you want to also experience exciting moments and enjoy a certain amount of freedom.

What’s next for CycloGo?

MGC : We hope to continue to develop our reputation, before turning to the international markets. We also plan to offer long itineraries for groups next year. There are many beautiful routes still to discover and share!

What are your expectations from the community of EDHEC graduates?

MGC  : We welcome any advice from professionals, particularly those working in tourism or communications. We would also like to develop partnerships with companies and staff groups. And of course we are available for anyone who might have questions or comments. Don’t hesitate to get in touch! In the meantime, we wish you happy travels!
