ENTREPRENEURSHIP : share your memories on Memorink thanks to Laurent Amoravain (EDHEC 2012)

Participants at our recent Alumni Campus Day were given the chance to share their photos from their EDHEC years and thereby contribute to the launch of Memorink, a new French social network created by Laurent Amoravain (EDHEC 2012) which should bring back a few memories! 

EDHEC Alumni : What is Memorink?

Laurent Amoravain : Memorink.com is a website that enables you to map and share your memories with the whole world. On Memorink.com, users select a location on a map of the world and link it to one of their memories, for which they provide the date. So for example you could share a precious moment from your childhood or a photo of your school as it looked 20 years ago. This allows you to delve back into the past of the people and places that marked your life. The best thing is to discover it for yourself and share your first memory: www.memorink.com

EACan you explain how Memorink came about? ?

LA : The founders, Laurent Amoravain (26) and Jean-François Biart (25) met on the HEC pre-graduate programme in Montpellier. When they had completed their studies in business schools, at EDHEC and KEDGE respectively, they teamed up with Hugues Charleux (36), a web developer with 13 years’ experience, to create Memorink.The idea for the project came from a simple observation: every day we post content on social networks and communicate with our friends and family using dedicated applications. What these sites and applications have in common is that they allow us to capture the present moment, to share what we are experiencing right now. Yet in that environment dedicated to sharing and focused on the present, there is no online space for our past. It was to address that need that we decided to create Memorink.

EA : Have you ever had the opportunity to benefit from the network of EDHEC graduates? 

LA : The EDHEC network gives us the chance on a daily basis to directly contact influential people, whether to: 
- get feedback on the concept 
- acquire new contacts 
- gain renown among the wider public 
- collect feedback on people’s experiences 
- or prepare the next major phases of the project...
We are really satisfied with this tool.  
 

EA : What are the next steps for Memorink?

LA : The success of Memorink depends on the size of its community of users. So our primary short-term objective is to get as many registered users as possible on the website. We hope to reach a target of 10,000 users by the end of the year. A mobile application is also due to be released at the beginning of 2015. In the longer term, our aim is to make Memorink a major player in France’s online activities.  

EA : What are your expectations from the community of EDHEC graduates? 

LA
: Our current needs relate to communication and public relations. We want to make Memorink known to the wider public using all possible media outlets: Internet, newspapers, television, radio, etc. Feel free to get in touch
