1. Could you tell us a little about your background ? ( Courses, diplomas, program , specialties ... )
The team is made of two members: Antoine Gros and myself. We met at King’s College London during our bachelor.
One day when we were walking in the rain, we realized that umbrellas are far from responding to all our needs: they are not robust or flexible, have a tiny uncomfortable handle, and we never know what to do with them once they are wet.
Even though none of us had experience in the umbrella business (not even in Entrepreneurship), we decided to create our own umbrella that would tackle each of these problems. That’s how Beau Nuage was born!
2. How does it feel to work on this new entrepreneurial project ?
What an amazing adventure! We have learned so much from a production, distribution, marketing, legal, accounting points of view. It is also a real pleasure to work for yourself on our own project.
3. Have you enjoyed at one time or another of EDHEC alumni network ?
We just contacted the EDHEC Alumni in order to get some visibility for the crowdfunding campaign we just launched (link below). The EDHEC network is an amazing opportunity for us in terms of promotion, but also provides us with a good way to connect with talented entrepreneurs.
4. What advice can you give to students or graduates who wish to start a business ?
I advised them to be proactive and have some « audacity ». Don’t hesitate to contact journalists when you look for promotion, or investors if you are thinking of raising money. People won’t come to you straight away; you are the one who needs to make the necessary efforts to get what you want, no matter how many refusals you get.
5. What are the next steps for your business?
We just launched our crowdfunding campaign on the US platform Indiegogo. This is our first market test, and if we want to continue this adventure it needs to be a success. So for those who are interested in our project and products, it’s the right time to contribute! J
6. Do you have any expectations of the Edhec Alumni community?
The EDHEC network is made of lots of investors and successful entrepreneurs. We will contact some of them for advice purposes in the coming weeks, and we are also open to any proposal.
