Ambassadors Day 2016: The Jedi Strike Back

Saturday 30 January, 8:30 am. A group of ambassadors numbering almost 100 met on the EDHEC campus in Paris. Their objective: combine their collective energy to spread the force of the EDHEC network throughout the galaxy…

For the 5^th episode of Ambassadors Day, dedicated to the zealous ambassadors of the EDHEC network, our graduates donned the costumes of Jedi knights. Galvanised by Emmanuelle Guilbart (Master 1988), President of EDHEC Alumni and Princess Leia for a day, our ambassadors quickly realised the scale of the network under their charge. 422 ambassadors and more than 4,100 EDHEC Resources, but above all more than 500 events organised in the four corners of the globe by these network enthusiasts!

So what’s the priority for 2016? To make communications and the services available to local and professional communities even more reliant on digital technology. Reminder: all conferences held on the Paris campus are currently available via streaming and can be watched on demand. Several well-established ambassadors went on to share their good practices in order to help Jedi apprentices run their networks, organise events with widespread appeal, and above all form a benevolent and close-knit community!

Having topped up their energy levels at the buffet, and sampled the rosé wine from Château Barbebelle provided by Madeleine Herbeau (Master 2014), our ambassadors headed off to a World Café. In teams of five, our brave knights addressed some of the challenges inherent in running an alumni network: how to keep a community vibrant on social networks, and how to ensure a network contributes to the career paths of its members.

Two hours of brainstorming later, each team shared the results of their work with their fellow delegates. A highly productive afternoon for our ambassadors, but above all for our network!

The energy shown and initiatives taken by those who run our communities throughout the year deserved recognition! 21 clubs and two ambassadors were warmly congratulated by EDHEC and their peers.

Bravo to all our Jedi knights, whose enthusiasm is contagious and promises more wonderful adventures for the future... They call on you to join them for the BBA get-together in June, as well as the EDHEC Rendez-vous (2 June). May the force be with you!
