According to our Career Centre, the candidate profiles from the range of EDHEC programmes appeal to major firms, who report that “young EDHEC recruits are not afraid to work up a sweat to reach their objectives". And if ever this was in doubt, read on for proof times three!

This summer three of our graduates decided to forego the R&R of their well-earned holidays to take on sporting challenges in favour of charities. Here is the story of their adventures and a chance to support them.

Sebastien Clayette, 1000km on foot and in a kayak to raise awareness about rape

“My name is Sebastien, I’m 22 years old and graduated from EDHEC with a BBA in 2022. I’ve just travelled from Aix-en-Provence to Lyon on foot (315km in 9 days) and am now preparing to descend the Loire river in a kayak from Roanne to Saint-Nazaire, in Brittany. The aim is to raise public awareness of sexual violence against women.
By raising €10,000, €10 for every kilometre covered. The money will go to Solidarité Femmes 13, a charity which for almost 50 years has offered shelter and ongoing support to women who have been victims of domestic and/or sexual violence, in particular through sport.

Why? What really drove me to do this is the women I know, directly or indirectly, who have been victims of sexual violence. Each story left a mark on me. And also for women who suffer from harassment on a daily basis. We all know women in such circumstances, and that just shouldn’t be.
I also believe that the role of men who support the fight against this violence is sometimes underrepresented. My aim is to change these preconceptions through my actions."

Yannis Gosnave will be travelling from London to Paris by bike to educate young people about the environment.

“Dear network members, my name is Yannis Gosnave (EDHEC BBA 2012). In September I’ll be cycling from London to Paris. As well as being a major sporting challenge (more than 196 miles!), the aim is to raise money for Veni Verdi, a French charity that creates gardens in urban areas in Paris and educates young people about the environment, biodiversity and contemporary challenges in terms of nutrition.
Each contribution will help Veni Verdi make our lives greener. Thanks to everyone for your kind support!

Vianney Motte attempted a Channel crossing to support vulnerable children and migrants.

“My name is Vianney and I graduated from EDHEC with a BBA in 2002. Life was kind to me but I’m aware that not everyone is so fortunate! This summer I attempted the sporting challenge of my dreams: to swim across the Channel in support of the charities Bernardos and Salam to combat injustice.
Salam organises the distribution of meals and clothing, as well as first aid and accommodation assistance to migrants arriving in Calais.
The mission of Barnardos is to transform the lives of vulnerable children who face a difficult childhood.

Here are my first impressions from the day after the challenge:
- Success: we managed to raise €7.5k. With this money, the two charities will be in a position to have a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and migrants!
- I gave everything: I made the gamble that the wind wouldn’t pick up so I could complete the Channel crossing ... but things turned out differently and after 6 hours the wind got stronger and stronger and so did the swell. I put all my heart into it and I fought as much as I could. After 3 more hours, I wasn’t making any more headway towards Calais and decided to stop after 9 hours in the water.
- No regrets: Of course I would have preferred to touch down on the other side of the Channel but I feel blessed in my journey and the day I experienced. I was swimming in the Channel and it’s just amazing!! I have memories that will last a whole lifetime!
- Support: While I was swimming, my team were sharing messages of support from my family, friends and colleagues, and that’s worth more than anything! The whole team supported me throughout.

I hope you all can find a dream that will change you forever and that you can undertake a journey with others who will help you grow like those who supported me!
Thanks again for your support right to the end!
