EDHEC Rendez-Vous: a unique interactive experience to bring the network together

Tuesday, 6 October 2020. After an immersive show at the Atelier des Lumières in 2018 and fun times at the Musée des Arts Forains last year, the 2020 edition took on a new challenge: organising a 100% digital event!

The gamble paid off with 1,800 people signing up (1,100 participants), 50% more registrants than the previous year, mainly due to the mobilisation of younger generations. In just 3 years, the number of participants attending the EDHEC Rendez-Vous has trebled, demonstrating the dynamism of the network and the ever-stronger bonds between the generations. The digitalisation of the event, with simultaneous translations in English, was also an opportunity to mobilise the entire alumni network, both in France and overseas.

The discussions were moderated by Mélanie Hacquin (EDHEC 2000), Vice-President of EDHEC Alumni, and Martin Barbier (EDHEC 1988), Director of EDHEC Alumni, and highlighted the ambition of EDHEC’s 2025 strategic plan "Impact Future Generations" as well as the three pillars underpinning the actions of our EDHEC Alumni community: Share, Care and Dare.

Philippe Guerret, Chairman and founder of M2i, receives the 2020 EDHEC Person of the Year award

The 2020 EDHEC Person of the Year award was given to Philippe Guerret (EDHEC 1996), CEO and founder of M2i Life Sciences, a French industrial firm that specialises in biocontrol using pheromones, an alternative to conventional pesticides.

Philippe Guerret

Philippe Guerret is the CEO and co-founder of M2i Life Sciences, a biotech firm recognised as one of the key players in the farming of the future. It specialises in organic protection for crops and green areas using pheromones.
M2i sells synthetic pheromones produced in a laboratory using biomimetism. These can be used to fight crop-destroying insects by attracting and trapping them or by disrupting them to prevent their reproduction and proliferation. These substances are an effective and economic solution that contributes to the ecological transition by being selective and non-toxic without the development of any resistance. His business aims to establish itself as world leader for a farming model that is more respectful of the environment, while at the same time bringing a fresh dynamic to French industrial zones.

Philippe Guerret graduated from EDHEC’s Grande Ecole programme in 1996 and started out his career at Vivendi, before later joining the finance department of the group’s holding company Vinci. Between 2001 and 2004, he served as VP in charge of strategic operations at Dufry before later becoming managing director of Minafin, a services and subcontracting provider working on active ingredients for the pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries, a firm he co-founded in 2004. After leaving Minafin in 2010, Philippe took over as head of Osyris, an optronics firms operating mainly in the life sciences, before co-founding M2i Life Sciences in late 2012.

“We are delighted to give this award to Philippe Guerret, co-founder of M2i Life Sciences, one of the world leaders on the biocontrol market. His entrepreneurial background is a source of inspiration for our students and the perfect embodiment of our ambition: to train talented individuals capable of moving the business world forward to serve future generations”

said Emmanuel Métais, Dean of EDHEC Business School.
