ShopDesCreateurs.com is a contestant in the SME of the Year Award organised by the French Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. (first selection scheduled for 25 March)

• Product definition, target market:
Discover, Share & Shop from the best independent fashion designers
With Uniqueness making a strong comeback over Standardization and online fashion booming, ShopDesCreateurs.com targets a promising market (although still considered as a niche today): we want to become the top-of-mind international curated online platform dedicated to showcasing and selling the works of the best independent fashion designers and small brands around the World, offering a unique and dynamic catalog of clothing, accessories and jewellery for women, men and kids.
But ShopDesCreateurs.com is not only about shopping: we want to take independent fashion out of the small world of “fashionistas” by showing people who are not necessarily used to buy from independent designers (because they think it is too expensive or because they don’t know where the boutiques are) that there is a different kind of fashion out there, made of creativity and freedom, and still affordable. We foster sharing and spreading across communities with the latest innovations in social media and user-generated content, for an exciting and interactive user experience.

• Size of team: 3 including 2 EDHEC alumni

• Capital raised or to be raised: 25,000 euros raised – 100,000 euros to find before June 2011

• Originality of venture:
ShopDesCreateurs.com is not the usual online retailer: we operate as a service company, working hand-in-hand with featured designers to reach success. We don’t buy from designers and do not hold any inventory, but provide them with commission-based services so that they can focus on creation rather than on the marketing and sales of their designs. Orders are shipped worldwide by designers (shipping is included in product prices). This allows for a continuous update of our product offering, and a sound cost structure.

• Growth prospects:
Objective 1.5M euro turnover by Year 3 (site launched in October 2010)

III/ What do you expect from the Edhec network?

To raise awareness of our business venture with angel investors for minimum investment funding of 100,000 euros by June 2011, in order to step up our growth by:
• Opening an office in Paris (in progress)
• Incorporating a community financing / crowdfunding module (in partnership)
• Developing a mobile version (outsourced)
• Developing editorial content (recruitment)
• Recruiting a webmaster
• Implementing an augmented reality application
• Setting up an activity in continental China (with local partnership)
