Which kind of M1 student are you?

School

10.08.2013

Every year in October, we identify two different types of M1 students: those who are already actively working towards their gap year and those who are … not. And because there is a positive correlation between early effort and early securing a good internship, we really hope you are part of the first group!

We know: for most of you, it is too early to apply. But this does not mean there is nothing for you to do. On the contrary, October is the right time for you to:

  • Familiarize yourself with the Career Centre website and in particular the Resources section (see related article below).
  • Learn about different industries and functions.
  • Assess your skills, your motivations, what makes you tick and use this information to start making your career choices.
  • Validate your choices with your Career Centre advisors or ask them for help if you cannot decide what the best for you is.
  • Write and review your CV and learn how to write effective cover letters.
  • Draft a plan based on your choices: which employers, which internships, when to start applying.

Remember that the time you spend now doing all this will help you be more effective in the coming months as you start to apply and interview for your desired internship
