As EDHEC Country Manager in China, Sisi Pan embodies the link between our French campuses and the Chinese community. A former EDHEC graduate, she now works to expand the school’s influence, develop corporate relations and lead the largest alumni community outside Europe.
A career between Asia and France
“My name is Sisi Pan and I have been EDHEC Country Manager China since 2019. Before that, I spent five years working as an Investment Project Manager in the renewable energy sector, in China, Japan and Southeast Asia.”
Originally from a coastal city in Zhejiang, Sisi studied in Shanghai before coming to France for her master’s degree at EDHEC.
“It is a great privilege to serve the EDHEC community in China today — especially in Shanghai — and to help build bridges between East and West, between all EDHEC stakeholders based in France and China.”
Her role is built around four main pillars:
- promoting programmes and overseeing admissions,
- developing the alumni network,
- creating corporate partnerships and supporting careers,
- coordinating the school’s activities in China.
“It is an extremely rewarding yet demanding role: I must manage several local projects while working with teams mainly based in France. My main challenge is to strengthen EDHEC’s brand visibility in China.”
Building lasting connections with Chinese companies
Drawing on her experience in human resources, Sisi has developed a pragmatic approach to nurturing corporate relations:
“I regularly take part in job fairs and industry conferences, and I also rely on alumni to help establish direct contact with the HR departments of their companies.”
Attracting future Chinese talents
China is one of EDHEC’s most dynamic international markets.
“For six years, I have devoted a large part of my time to presenting our programmes at education fairs and in high schools across more than 25 cities in the country.”
A crucial grassroots effort to introduce the EDHEC spirit to new generations of students.
A fast-growing alumni community
The EDHEC community in China now counts more than 1,000 graduates, aged 25 to 45, working across a wide range of industries: finance, consulting, tech, AI, e-commerce, consumer goods and internet.
“We are proud to see many of them rise to leadership positions within their companies.”
EDHEC can also rely on a structured organisation: active clubs in Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, led by dedicated volunteer ambassadors.
“This collaborative model works extremely well: every year we organise major events such as the EDHEC Rendez-vous in June or the Welcome Party in October, along with networking events, round tables and exclusive gatherings for our most engaged alumni.”
Innovating in communication: the WeChat Mini Programme
Among her recent projects, Sisi enthusiastically mentions the development of the EDHEC China Alumni WeChat Mini Programme, designed with the EDHEC Alumni team.
“This flagship digital initiative offers alumni a simple and intuitive platform to stay connected with the school and with each other.”
Our graduates based in China often have difficulty accessing our traditional European websites and social networks such as LinkedIn. The mini programme offers a fully localised web experience giving them access to school news, the event calendar, career opportunities shared by members and the alumni directory.
“Just a few weeks after its launch, the pilot already has over 100 registered alumni. This early success confirms that the project will bring significant strategic value to EDHEC Alumni’s digital transformation, especially in markets where WeChat is essential.”
Pride and ambition
“Seeing the EDHEC Alumni community grow in China is a source of great pride for me. This success is collective: it relies on the support of the Alumni team, the commitment of our ambassadors and the loyalty of our graduates.”
With over 1,000 active alumni, a presence in four major cities and a strong digital ambition, the EDHEC community in China has become a major centre of influence within the school’s global network.
