The second edition of the “Silicon Valley @ EDHEC” conference took place on 8 February.  During the event, 14 alumni talked with the 300 students present at the conference with a view to helping them construct their career paths and succeed in getting hired by some of the biggest names in IT such as Salesforce, Oracle, Hotel Tonight, EMC, Facebook, Amazon, LinkedIn, Google or Dailymotion. 14 alumni (who graduated between 2004 and 2015) made the trip from Dublin, Paris, Singapore or Zurich or linked up from San Francisco via Skype. Jérôme FRIZZERA-MOGLI, who was rewarded Edhec of the year in 1999 for the funding of his IT company, hosted the debate.

The evening kicked off to the strains of Broken Back’s “The Happiest Man on Earth”, a song composed, written and sung by Jérôme Fagnet (Edhec 2014). It then continued with a number of alumni testimonies on career-boosters. For example, Nicolas Tzipine (Edhec 2013) talked about how to create a start-up based on his own experience in founding Whask, while Lucas Servant (Edhec 2013) explained what a career in a start-up might look like based on his experience with Ignition Program.

“Over an hour, our 14 alumni reviewed their experiences and companies in full transparency and gave our students highly practical tips on recruitment processes and the qualities they need to develop in order to join companies of this sort. After an hour of discussions, interested students had the chance to converse during a networking evening… yet another way to strengthen their networks and build solidarity between existing and former students!” explains Florence Da Costa, Head of the Student Career Centre.
