Four EDHEC professors in the 2023 Stanford/Elsevier world ranking of the top 2% of scientists

EDHEC Professors Philippe du Jardin, Sachin Kamble, René Rohrbeck and Martin Wetzels are listed in the world's top 2% Scientists list (October 2023 data-update) by Elsevier, an academic publishing company, and by John P.A. Ioannidis, a Stanford University Professor, and his co-authors. Learn more about this ranking and the research conducted by our four cited Professors. 

For the sixth time since 2019, John P.A. Ioannidis (Stanford), Jeroen Baas (Elsevier) and Kevin W Boyack (SciTech Strategies) have published, via the Elsevier Data Repository, a 'citation ranking' of academics from all disciplines and countries around the world. (1).

Using data on the 9.6 million publishers referenced in Elsevier (ICSR Lab), the authors have compared various standardized information (c-score, h-index, co-authorship…). In other words, “focusing on impact (i.e citations) rather than productivity (i.e number of publications)”, they’ve identified and ranked the researchers whose academic articles are most cited and most used by other researchers.

The Top 2% researchers – that’s nearly 210 200 top researchers - resulting from this data comparison are classified into 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields based on Science-Metrix's established classification.

In this new update, four EDHEC Professors made it to the Top 2%, in the “Economics & Business” and “Information & Communication Technologies” fields, which gather respectively 5 725 professors (out of 181 971 scholars) and 13 959 professors (out of 696 409 scholars).

This ranking is based on the data collected and analyzed for January 2022 to December 2022 – without the self-citations:

• Sachin Kamble (#19 093): EDHEC Professor and FIT Chair Member
• Martin Wetzels (#21 178): EDHEC Professor
• René Rohrbeck (#75 915): EDHEC Professor, FIT Chair and UNESCO Chair Director
• Philippe du Jardin (#128 951): EDHEC Professor

Other rankings are proposed by the authors, including one compiling the data available for the whole career. In this other Top 2% ranking, we find Martin Wetzels ranked 89 706th.

Being listed in the top 2% scientists in the world illustrates that the EDHEC Business School scholars are at a top level in their respective fields and have a remarkable global influence.
