The pace set by EDHEC's ambitious 2020-2025 strategic plan has been maintained: 22 new professors, in addition to the more than 25 already recruited, will join the school from September 2024.
International professors from diverse backgrounds
Glasgow, St Gallen, Turin, Stockholm but also Lyon, Rouen or Grenoble: the 22 professors - 11 women and 11 men - who will be joining EDHEC Business School at the start of the 2024 academic year have been recruited from all over Europe. The majority of these future professors are international (15 nationalities are represented) and all hold PhDs from leading European and North American institutions. They will strengthen the school's 5 teaching and research departments in a number of key areas: climate finance, biodiversity and ecosystem accounting, responsible entrepreneurship, well-being at work and sustainable marketing practices. These professors will be presented in detail at the start of the 2024-2025 academic year.
Given the many pressing challenges of our time, the topics studied and taught by the school's faculty give a place of choice to innovation, climate change and social progress. To date, more than a third of academic articles and two-thirds of EDHEC's own productions (reports, barometers, etc.) deal with sustainable development and CSR (corporate social responsibility) issues.
Taking a multidisciplinary approach, the new professors will work, for example, on human-computer interaction, the impact of AI and new business models. These new hires will support a threefold ambition that EDHEC has been pursuing for nearly twenty years: research that is useful to the global scientific community, to learners in the broadest sense and to businesses.
The fruit of the commitment of an entire institution
EDHEC devotes 18% of its current total budget - i.e. €20 million per year - to research, enabling it to establish itself as one of the top 10 business schools in Europe. Fully committed to the development of high-impact research, the school is recognised for its innovations and programmes in a number of fields, while maintaining its distinctive features: EDHEC cultivates a pioneering entrepreneurial spirit with the creation of applied scientific start-ups, the revenues of which are fully reinvested in its ecosystem for the benefit of its students.
The 22 new professors join a scientific community that shares the values of independence, ethics and academic excellence. Their recruitment, part of the ‘Impact Future Generations 2025’ strategic plan, has been led by the Dean of Faculty and Research, Michael Antioco: "I would like to sincerely thank heads of department for their full commitment, the faculty members for their invaluable contribution, the human resources and many staff members for their support".
The constant evolution of this composite and ‘responsible’ community, fully involved in the development of impactful research, will not stop here. New objectives are already on the table. EDHEC has set itself the target of recruiting around 15 new professors per year over the next four years.
