At the start of December, EDHEC chose to back the Chemins de la Réussite initiative, which is well established on its Roubaix campus. On 9 December, it therefore took part in the association’s “Roubaix-Tourcoing: territories and talents” seminar, attended by a number of socially-responsible companies from the two cities.
Les Chemins de la Réussite, an association founded and chaired by Roubaix Police Commissioner Abdelkader Haroune, aims to implement the key principles of republican meritocracy in a pragmatic and targeted way, by supporting young people who have distinguished themselves by their qualities or their exemplary work. As a recognised “public interest association”, EDHEC has the same values in terms of recognising merit and equal opportunities. It has therefore been involved in the Cordées de la Réussite initiative since 2018, devotes more than €10m each year to scholarships and offers innovative programmes such as Talents Prépa. This last scheme, which was renewed and expanded this year, reinforces equal opportunities in preparatory classes for the grandes écoles by offering a nine-month tutoring programme, provided to 50 preparatory class students by EDHEC student-volunteers.
EDHEC was particularly involved in the afternoon of debates, at which it was represented by Claire Bergery-Noël, its administration and communications director, as part of a round table entitled “Is the merit of young people from disadvantaged backgrounds sufficiently valued?”, which was chaired by Arnaud Desplechin, a film-maker known in particular for his film “Roubaix, une Lumière”. Students from the school were also present, as well as the chairman of the Music’All student association, which involves children from the IMP du Roitelet medical-professional institute in Tourcoing in its musical theatre project.
Under this partnership, the school will sponsor Amelle Dahmani, a student at the University Institute of Technology in Roubaix. EDHEC will support her throughout her journey towards her first job, by offering her some of the school’s services and support, such as career coaching and precisely-targeted meetings.
