On the 8th of November, EDHEC Distinguished Speaker Series in London had the pleasure to welcome Mr. Laurent Pallanca, Portfolio Manager at Lombard Odier Asset Management (Switzerland) SA.
Laurent shared insights on his career path and the role of being a Portfolio Manager. The topics covered the basics about Portfolio Management, building a strong investment process, effective usage of technical analysis and derivatives to improve market timing and implementing a trade idea. Laurent also talked about the challenges and opportunities confronted by portfolio managers nowadays and offered advices to students interested in pursuing a career as a Portfolio Manager.
This speech was organized for the students of the MSc Risk and Investment Management programme, who as full-time professionals within the Financial Industry, follow three days of courses on EDHEC London campus every month.
Laurent Pallanca is Portfolio Manager within the Tactical Asset Allocation team at Lombard Odier & Cie. Laurent joined Lombard Odier in 2007 in the Product Development team, specialized in fixed income, commodity, structured product and alternative solutions. In 2008, he became Portfolio Manager in the Asset Allocation team and started managing structured product mandates and funds for institutional clients. In 2010, Laurent joined the Tactical Asset Allocation team where he is currently managing a long/short trading book in a Global Macro fund. Previously, Laurent held different intern positions as assistant portfolio manager of the LODH Invest - Eastern Europe fund and as assistant risk manager for the “VaR” funds at Credit Agricole AM in London. Laurent graduated in 2007 from EDHEC Business School France in Risk and Asset Management.
