01.07.2009

EDHEC's Career Service organises a variety of events, conferences and meetings to help students enter professional life but the highlight of the year is undoubtedly the EDHEC Job Forum that takes place annually in Paris at the start of each new year. This event fits in nicely with the students' job-search calendar, when companies start thinking seriously about hiring competent students for their trainee programmes, internships and full time positions.

The 2009 edition will take place on the 9th of January and gathers more than 120 national and international companies and over 1200 EDHEC students, from first year Master in Management to MSc students seeking future employment opportunities. Transport to and from the Parisian event is organised by EDHEC, allowing every student to participate easily, whether they are studying on the Nice, Lille or Paris campus.

A wide range of leading companies will be present in Paris to meet EDHEC's students and provide significant information about their company and positions available. They also offer helpful application advice and help students with the research for their future career.

Well-established firms will be present from Financial Service sector with HSBC, Société Générale or Fortis Bank, leading Consultancy firms such as KMPG, Ernst & Young, prominent FMCG firms such as Procter & Gamble and Unilever, to global luxury and cosmetics brands such as LVMH and L'Oréal to name but a few. Companies are present to answer students' questions, collect and study students CVs, offer many job opportunities not only for French speaking students, but also for international students. Students will have the possibility to discuss with company representatives from marketing, financial analysis or audit to help them to better define their professional projects, organise their job search and develop their network. In many cases short interviews will be conducted by company representatives on their stands. Shadi Qawasmi, an MSc Marketing student from Jerusalem, Palestine on the 2008 Paris Job Forum:

"The Forum in Paris was very well organized. The number of companies present was above my expectations and the majority of them had lots to offer. Prior to coming to the forum, I pointed out four companies that I was certainly interested in; Ogilvey, Disney, Pepsico, and British American Tobacco. I researched the kind of posts they were offering and understood a bit more about the nature of their business. This made my task much easier and gave me more time to spend with other companies present at the forum. Speaking to so many executives gave me a better idea of what companies in France and abroad were looking for. Although most of the posts being offered in France required a good knowledge of French, I was able to approach all companies using English. Those who couldn't offer anything in France suggested transferring my CV to their English-speaking offices. I made some important contacts and passed my CV to the hands of the right people in companies I would like to work for."
