Didier Fredenucci (EDHEC 2010) and Btwinz SaaS Ventures for the EDHEC Entrepreneur of the Year award
Candidate for the EDHEC Entrepreneur of the Year award
Didier has been an entrepreneur working in digital and new technologies for 8 years, and over the last 5 years has founded no fewer than 10 start-ups with his brother in the SaaS (Software as a Service) and AI (artificial intelligence) sectors, targeting brands and retailers with an original model: the “Venture Builder”. Btwinz now has more than 20 associates, almost 200 employees and 500 clients and since late 2016 has been running SaaSLab, a seed money operation for SaaS and AI. (For more information about Btwinz, see the article published in Forbes: https://www.forbes.fr/entrepreneurs/entreprendre-avec-son-jumeau-le-pari-gagnant-de-btwinz/)
Didier has been driven by an entrepreneurial mindset since his years at EDHEC, where he played a role in the Junior Enterprise, and while working for an e-commerce agency plans for Btwinz began to take shape. Brands are increasingly internalising the e-commerce and digital value chain, and are adopting ever more cutting-edge tools to successfully complete this transition. At the same time, there are many brilliant entrepreneurs launching innovations without ever finding their market, and due to a lack of support they end up abandoning their projects. It was to bring these two worlds together that the Venture Builder model was created in 2013 at the time that Btwinz was launched.
With an initial capital of just €500 each, Didier and his “twin” brother Bertrand created a veritable digital ecosystem of entrepreneurs, associates, investors and clients to develop their innovation, maximize the success of the projects they invested in, and thereby help their end clients to successfully complete their digital transformation. Btwinz lies at the crossroads between a group, a start-up studio and a risk capital fund, and its aim is to create and boost the development of technological innovations with a view to establishing a Europe-wide group with a focus on the cloud.
Five years on and Btwinz has jointly founded more than 10 companies enjoying strong growth (including Alphalyr, Quanta Computing, Mazeberry and Facelift France), and in late 2016 set up an investment fund dedicated to SaaS and AI. The firm now has more than 20 associates, almost 200 employees and 500 clients that contribute to its dynamic development.
