The watchword for 2020 is of course “COVID-19” and, although 2021 has begun, the consequences of this pandemic continue to weigh on the luxury market. Over the past year, new social movements and new technological trends have emerged that will have an impact on the global luxury sector, change its temporality and generate new behaviours.

Like navigators, we need a lighthouse; this roundtable discussion aims to guide you through this time of upheaval. We will be addressing “What’s ahead for the Business of Luxury” with three guest speakers sharing their keen knowledge of the luxury sector and expert insights. As part of the discussion, we will be asking them for advice on how to stay the course.

Guest speakers:

Erwan Rambourg (EDHEC 1995) – Author of Future Luxe

Erwan Rambourg has been a top-ranked analyst covering the luxury and sporting goods sectors for fifteen years. After eight years as a Marketing Manager in the luxury industry, notably for LVMH and Richemont, he is now a Managing Director and Global Head of Consumer & Retail equity research. He regularly contributes to the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, CNBC and Bloomberg, and has guest lectured at top universities in the US, Europe and Asia. He is the author of The Bling Dynasty: Why The Reign of Chinese Luxury Shoppers Has Only Just Begun (Sept 2014) and is finishing his second book Future Luxe: What’s Ahead for the Business of Luxury (Sept 2020), in which he identifies the major forces and emerging trends that are set to reshape luxury over the next decade after a period of virus-related turbulence. After six years in Asia, Rambourg now lives in New York City with his wife and three children.

    • Specialises in devising digital communication and branding strategies for luxury brands (Bentley Motors, Coach, Swatch, Global Blue, Chopard, L'Oréal Luxe, etc.)
    • Expertise in digital media, especially social media, programmatic marketing, mobile, video, SEO and SEM
    • In-depth knowledge of the Chinese consumer and media markets
    • Proven track record in establishing a branch office in China from scratch as Managing Director of agencies
    • Strategy consulting background with over four years of experience in strategic analysis and project management with Big Five consultancies, as well as client experience in a variety of industry sectors including mobile internet, telecommunications, and FMCG
    • Unique trilingual (fluent in Chinese, French and English) and multicultural background, strong ability in managing multinational and cross-functional teams
