09.03.2024

Right at the heart of this global event that electrified France all summer long, the EDHEC community put on a brilliant display of its know-how, talent and commitment, whether on the playing field, carrying the torch or working behind the scenes on the Organising Committee (OCOG) and in partner companies.

EDHEC’s captivating athletes!

16 of our graduates and students flew the French flag and made all 55,000 alumni proud.

🥇 Two gold medals

The highlights of these games included two athletes from the EDHEC BBA Online programme who left their mark by taking home two gold medals.

Antoine Zeghdar, a rugby sevens player, kicked off with an unforgettable gold medal for France and the national team. Meanwhile in the fencing, Manon Apithy Brunet dominated the women’s sabre competition, walking away with gold from the all-French final!

🙌 Fine performances by our other athletes

Outside of the medal table, our alumni athletes captivated us all during these Games. Their participation was marked by an exemplary sporting spirit, combativeness and an urge to excel, a reflection of the values of excellence and resilience dear to us all. Our heartfelt thanks to Solène AvoulèteChristina Bauer, Eliot Curty, Matteo Desgouillons, Ambre Esnault, Florian GrengboNoé JouinMaud LefortHortense Limouzin, Christoforo Peters-Deutz, Elodie Ravera-ScaramozzinoSarah Richard MingasJules Rolland (substitute on the Table Tennis team that won the bronze medal!) and Emma Terebo  for the intense emotions they made us experience!

🏃‍♂️‍➡️🏃🏾‍♀️‍➡️ And not forgetting all the alumni who ran the "Marathon for all"!

Torchbearers and volunteers

The EDHEC Alumni community also shone as the torch made its way to Paris. No fewer than ten graduates and students had the honour of carrying this powerful symbol of the Games, embodying the values of sharing and unity. Many volunteers from EDHEC also worked tirelessly to ensure the event went smoothly. Their contribution – often discreet but essential – ensured an unforgettable experience for athletes and spectators alike.

Alumni behind the scenes

The Games are not just about athletic performances: they are also underpinned by the meticulous and monumental organisation to which many alumni, graduates and students on internships actively contributed. Whether working on the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (OCOG) or for partner companies, our graduates played a crucial role in the rollout of this global event. Their expertise in management, communication, finance and logistics was pivotal in the success of this worldwide rendez-vous. Following the roundtable discussions  they took part in on the EDHEC Paris campus last February, many of them shared stories from their journey throughout the year, revealing the stakes and challenges overcome to make these Games special!

#ProudlyEDHEC

The involvement of all graduates and students in this international event, whether in the spotlight or background, is an immense source of pride for our community. Through their commitment and passion, our alumni not only flew the flag for France, but also showcased the values of EDHEC around the world. We felt it was important to give recognition for the intense, astonishing and moving moments they brought us over the summer!

🙏👏 THANK YOU and WELL DONE!
