Internship abroad
If you are doing your work placement/job abroad, don’t forget the following:
Find out as much as possible about your destination, precautions you need to take and paperwork, and follow the recommendations issued by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Make sure that all your papers (Passport, visa, work permit) are in order. For many countries you’ll need a visa from the foreign embassy or consulate in France.
Inform your Health Insurance Centre of your stay abroad and ask for the European Health Insurance Card (CEAM), which guarantees your health insurance rights in Europe during a temporary stay in an EEC country or in Switzerland. Students who pay for their medical costs abroad may be reimbursed by their supplementary health insurance policy which replaces the Social Security centre. Reimbursement is in line with French health care costs and there may be a big difference between the cost reimbursed and the actual cost paid.
You are advised to take out a health and repatriation insurance policy for medical expenses, serious illness or accident.
