On 18 October, the EDHEC Business School and Societe Generale launched a new edition of their “Global Financing Solutions” MOOC for the finance and consulting professions on the Coursera platform. The update mainly involves key ESG issues.
When it was launched in 2017, the “Global Financing Solutions” MOOC was designed to demystify the challenges of the financial world, provide information on the professions within it, and offer a certificate of completion for those who finished the course. In 2019, the programme was the first on Coursera to have been fully co-created by a Business School and a large company. It gave a voice to both the world of academia and professional experts working in the field. In addition to Societe Generale employees and EDHEC finance students, it has also attracted new learners from around the world who seek guidance as they navigate the challenges and transformations of finance. The MOOC has seen 85,000 visitors since it was created.
Getting to grips with key ESG issues
Coursera now has a new edition of the course. Its content has been updated but remains coherent with the original programme. Each week begins with an introduction from an EDHEC professor (Laurent Deville, Enrique Schroth and Hamid Boustanifar), followed by videos by Societe Generale experts in which they allow learners to understand how the various theoretical concepts can be applied to the real world of finance. Entirely in English, the completely updated course aims to share good financial practices with learners by explaining how current CSR issues are relevant to all financial professions in banking today, so that the course is aligned with the major challenges of environmental and societal transition on which EDHEC and Societe Generale place great importance.
