Who better than the Dean of EDHEC Business School to answer the questions raised by our graduates? This month, Olivier Oger writes about the importance of graduates in the development of EDHEC.

Why is the School seeking to raise funds from graduates?

In a climate of increasing international competition, with public funds gradually drying up and the learning tax being whittled away, EDHEC wants to pursue its development based on its economic model and the commitment of its graduates. Many projects are being developed and the School’s ambitions are very high. It is for this reason that I continue to call on the generosity of our graduates.

I feel three projects are particularly important:

-Social inclusion and access to the highest level of education for all. This year, EDHEC invested more than €8 million in its grant scheme EDHEC4All. 20% of our students benefited from this fund. We need to double our efforts.

-Developing entrepreneurship in young people. The EDHEC Young Entrepreneurs incubator has been a resounding success, with 80% of companies successful after three years and more than 600 jobs created by the 90 companies that have so far been incubated. We hope to double its capacity and reach a figure of 180 companies benefiting from ongoing incubation.

- Finally, moving education and teaching forward, with a central role for digital technologies. Enabling 45 elite athletes to complete the EDHEC BBA programme via e-learning is already a significant success in terms of developing online training. Meanwhile, our laboratory for pedagogic innovation is working to invent the learning tools of the future, in part by capitalising on digitalisation.

I am confident that during the coming year our graduates will continue to support us with a view to ensuring that EDHEC can become the leading European school we all know it can be and contribute to the success of future generations!
