Philippe Foulquier, Professor of Finance and Accounting is happy to share following study with alumni
A study published today, by the EDHEC Financial Analysis and Accounting Research Centre with the support of NN Investment Partners, addresses the following question: "How do we calibrate risk appetite, risk tolerance and risk limits, and what are the issues at stake for capital allocation?"
In effect since January 2016, the Solvency II European regulation requires every insurance company, under the responsibility of the Board of Directors and of General Management, to adopt a holistic view of its risks and explicitly formalise its risk appetite.
This study based on a Survey of European insurance companies has the following objectives:
- To analyse the relevance of the indicators of risk appetite, risk tolerance and risk limits that are adopted by players in the insurance sector; •
- To show how they will impact the management of insurance companies, mutual insurance companies and provident institutions.
