Navigating the UK Visa Application Process: Keep calm, it's worth it!

04.28.2023

Whether you are a student wondering where to look for your 6-month experience abroad to validate your EDHEC degree, a recent graduate with a deep aspiration to start an international career or an alumnus/a with some work experience already thinking of a new challenge in another country, London should be on your radar.

From discovering the transversal Anglo-Saxon management to diving into British history on every corner and meeting people from everywhere in the world, London will bring you an unforgettable experience!

WHAT A STRESSFUL "B" WORD...

However, since Brexit and more effectively since 2021, things are a bit harder for European nationals. There is no longer freedom of movement between the UK and European Union member states. Under this new system, all non-UK residents, whether they are nationals of an EU or non-EU country, are subject to the same requirement: Applying for a UK visa to come to the UK to live and work.

SOME EXCEPTIONS

  • You have the UK nationalityLucky you! However, be mindful that you cannot apply for a VIE in the UK. Sometimes we cannot have it all…
  • You have the

    pre-settled/

settled status: Because you lived in the UK before

31 December 2020, you are allowed to work in the UK so make the most of it!

  • You have a double degree from a university in the UK (LSE, Imperial…): You can apply for a Graduate VISA which will allow you to stay in the UK for at least 2 years.

READY FOR THE HARD STUFF NOW?

Keep calm and open the EDHEC document below explaining how to navigate the VISA process whether you are looking for:

EDHEC PARTNER FOR INTERNSHIP SPONSORSHIP: BUNAC

If your target employer cannot sponsor you for an internship, EDHEC has a solution via a partner called BUNAC. It will allow you to get a certificate of sponsorship and apply for the needed GAE VISA online via UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration).

Please check all the BUNAC eligibility requirements in the PDF documents. BUNAC does not sponsor any type of internship.

CONTACTS

Please contact Audrey Haverkamp, EDHEC's Country Manager for the UK and Ireland, if you have any additional questions on the visas.

Stanislas Lesniak (EDHEC 2020), Strategic Investor Relations Analyst at Accellency and member of the EDHEC UK Alumni Board, is also happy to reply to some of your questions on the Skilled Worker visa.

We hope all of this is a bit clearer and we wish you all the best in your application process.
