The International Private Bank (IPB) Operations and Finance platforms support our Private Banking business in Asia, EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) and Latin America from a hub based in Geneva & Mumbai. Ad hoc local support is also in place where required (Madrid, Hong Kong, Singapore).

The Operations department is responsible for all order execution, trade booking, data management, client fee billing, processing and settlement of all transactions initiated for Private Clients worldwide. Operations are involved in almost all major steps of the transaction lifecycle as well as new initiatives (products and services) and vendor management. The IPB Operations platform deals with 6 legal entities, over 20,000 client accounts and more than 1.5 millions transactions annually.

Our Operations hub in Geneva consists of 135 employees from 25 nationalities and is organized in teams ranging from 3 to 12 people. Teams are aligned to either processes (Income, Corporate Actions, Tax, Client Reporting, Data Management) or products (Plain vanilla products, Hedge Funds, Derivatives, Mutual Funds). People joining the team will be typically assigned to one team and will be rotating into another Operations team within 24 months.

The finance department, made of 34 employees with 12 nationalities, is split into 2 teams.

The Legal Entity Control team (LEC), is responsible for the integrity of our financial statements, its accuracy and its completeness. They control various legal entities and branches and prepare monthly financials to our headquarters in New York. They present financial statements to various groups such as the Management Committee and the Board.  They also manage the relationship with our auditors. Due to the ever changing regulatory environment, they have to be expert in various General accepted accounting principles.

The Management Information System team (MIS), partners with the business to provide strategic and tactical financial analysis.  They oversee the business flows, the number of new clients and the P&L (revenues and expenses) of the Private Bank. They also plan and forecast revenues and expenses and complete ad hoc analysis. They also check the profitability of the various markets.

Both LEC and MIS teams are key partners in helping the business understand the current financial information and make strategic decisions.

Upon joining, all new hires in Operations and Finance go through a 5-day induction training and continuous on-the-job training. Numerous ad-hoc product training sessions are provided on a regular basis. Later on and all throughout their career, employees are provided with ad-hoc technical, product and/or soft skills training.
