Whirlpool's Fast Track Management Program
MSc in Marketing graduate Imane Ghorbani entered Whirlpool’s FAST TRACK MANAGEMENT PROGRAM (FTMP) for top graduates from leading European universities. All trainees who enter the 21 month-programme work on three different assignments around Whirlpool European locations. Imane was pleased to share his experience with us.
It is amongst one of many interesting employment options that Whirlpool can offer to outstanding students and graduates. We interview one of our Grand Ecole graduate 2008, Imane Ghorbani, who is doing the programme currently and almost finishing his first rotation.
What you do and what do you like the most about your job?
I am currently working in Supply Chain at our European Service Parts Center. I am leading one of the most strategic projects within the European logistics network. My mission is to redefine and optimise the supply chain in the Nordic area for the spare parts distribution.
The aim of the project is to increase significantly the service level, driven mainly by transport lead time reduction, for the Nordic countries in order to gain loyalty and satisfaction from our service partners to end consumers.
What does a day in your life look like? Tell us about your activities, research, projects, and meetings.
My mission involves the evaluation and analysis part as well as the implementation of the project. My daily job involves many meetings and contacts with our logistic partners in order to evaluate and select the best solution for the Nordic area. I am also involved in internal meetings within my department and with my colleagues in the Nordic region in order to set our priorities for the project.
During my assignment, I have been able to interact with various functions inside and outside Whirlpool, from Procurement, IT, Operations, Planning, legal and Service partners in order to understand and evaluate the best solution for the project.
What was your first rotation on the job and what are you going to do next?
I joined Whirlpool Europe in September 2008 for my first assignment in supply chain and looking forward for my next cross-function and cross-country rotations which will be defined on a long-term career plan basis, as to bridge me into my permanent job at the end of the programme.
I will start my next rotation in July 2009 in Paris in the Marketing department working for another key project for Whirlpool. My mission will consist in redefining the marketing strategy of Whirlpool premium brands in the French market.
What advice would you give to the current students?
During my first assignment, I have been able to lead a European team in order to reach a strategic goal for Whirlpool. I have been able to discover a new function such as supply chain, participate in the evaluation part, involve in the negotiation and contribute to the realisation of an ongoing project. My advice is that if you are willing to take responsibilities and not afraid to discover new things in your professional or personal life, then the FTMP is the right choice for you!
