As a European Business Management Graduate, you will be in a real job from day one and you will be expected to make an important contribution to the National Adhesives business. Your role will include a tailor made personal development programme. This ensures that you receive strong functional and leadership learning, providing you with a strong basis from which to achieve your career aim of becoming a high performing functional or business leader of the future. However, this does not mean simply plugging you into a generic training scheme. Your individual programme will be unique, defined by your roles and supported by your ambition and motivation. During the two-year Graduate Development Programme, we aim to send you on a six-month secondment to function outside of Marketing (where you will spend most of your time) within our business, ensuring you develop a wide understanding of our business and its priorities.

Vacancy Description

The National Adhesives business is headquartered in Europe and the US and employs 5400 people, and has manufacturing and customer service centres in 39 countries across 6 continents. National Adhesives is one of the largest producers of specialty industrial adhesives in the world, based on both natural and synthetic polymers. Major product groups include water-borne, hot melt and pressure sensitive adhesives. National's products are used in a wide variety of applications such as sealing cases and cartons, adhering labels to bottles and cans, binding magazines, holding baby diapers together or sealing car headlamps. National Adhesives is a National Starch Chemical company who is a member of the ICI Group. Your first role will involve working in the European Market Intelligence and Communications team as either a Research or Communications Assistant, reporting to the Market Intelligence and Communications Manager. You will be responsible for developing and implementing research or communications activities in conjunction with the Market Managers, supporting the marketing thrusts of National Adhesives. These activities include desk research, Voice of the Customer interviews, Competitive Intelligence, exhibition management, new product launches, customer newsletters, literature management and PR. The roles involve B2B (business-to-business) activities and this includes a high level of direct customer contact. Due to the European scope of our business and the roles, there will be European travel involved. The start location for this role is National's European Head Office in Slough, Berkshire. Further development will depend on aptitude and individual career wishes but could include Product Management marketing, Sales Management or procurement.  

Specific Requirements

To be considered for this role you must have achieved a minimum 2:1 degree ideally in a business related subject. (Equivalencies: NL: 7-10; GE: 1-2.5; FR: 12-20; SP: Distinction or above). You must also have achieved a minimum 22/280 UCAS points (NL: VWO 7-10; GE: Abitur 1-2.6; FR: Bac 12-20; SP: Bach 7-10).   You must have strong communication and interpersonal skills alongside being a good team player. 

 

Your high level of customer focus will enable you to develop strong working relationships with colleagues internal to the business as well as key external customer relationships.  

Strong commercial awareness is vital to this role, and ideally you will have internship, placement or work experience within a business or marketing environment.

 

You must be flexible regarding location throughout the EU and be highly mobile. Further career progression can depend on geographical mobility.

 

You will need to be fluent in English as well as one other European language, preferably German. To be considered for these roles you must have the permanent right to live and work in the EU.
