Lille, 29 August 2019 – To mark the arrival of its first-year students, EDHEC Business School organised a one-day event focusing entirely on climate, followed by a non-stop 28-hour hackathon. As their first entrepreneurial experience, this was a chance to develop their collective intelligence and come up with innovative solutions to address the challenges that lie ahead.
“Climate fresco”: a workshop to raise awareness of the urgent need to act
To mark the start of the academic year, on 26 August EDHEC’s 750 new arrivals were invited to a climate change awareness-raising event: the Climate Fresco, an educational and collaborative workshop based on collective intelligence.
With supervision from coaches and experts (including EDHEC alumni), students took part in this event in groups of 6 to 7 with the aim of better understanding how climate works and the consequences of its upheaval.
EDHEC is committed to teaching students about environmental issues
By way of introduction and to give students a chance to appreciate the scale of environmental challenges generally, EDHEC also held a roundtable discussion on the same day to discuss the role of businesses and other organizations in the environmental transition.
Several EDHEC graduates were on hand to share the solutions put in place by their firms to tackle the climate crisis:
- Kathleen Boquet, Project leader (Energy, Resources and Territories), GreenFlex
- Thomas de Moussac, Co-founder and Managing Director in charge of Development, Technique Solaire
- Augustin Jaclin, Founder, Lemon Tri
