Saturday, October 6, 2012, 2 pm, Lille Campus. Some of them had not returned to their school for 60 years and yet…
And yet, the 150 alumni who signed up for the 3rd EDHEC Alumni Campus Day quickly felt at home on their new campus where they came to celebrate their Class Year anniversary. Our alumni were captivated by Bertrand Monnet's expert presentation on "Corporate pirates and terrorists,” before giving a resounding welcome to ‘superstar’, Christophe Roquilly, for a second conference on “The rising power of legal risk management.” The Class of '92 alumni were especially appreciative of their former professor.
Once the question and answer session was over and our alumni’s curiosity satisfied, the 8 Class Years present were given a guided tour of the new Lille campus. From ultramodern lecture halls to fully equipped halls of residence, today's students greatly enjoyed showing their predecessors around the campus. The presence of members of 'Le Chti' and the Course Croisière gave some of the alumni a chance to chat about how their former associations have developed since they left.
5.30 pm: Return to the auditorium for a memorable full assembly!
During the plenary session, the alumni were able to discover just how far their school has progressed. Covering topics ranging from the rankings, projects and global programmes, Olivier Oger, Dean of EDHEC Business School, reminded the audience of the crucial nature of their commitment to the development and image of the school. Their testimonials, their time and their donations remain a precious asset, even 60 years after they graduated.
Bruno De Pampelonne, President of EDHEC Alumni, unfortunately ill on the day, was replaced by Christelle Caucheteux, Director of EDHEC Alumni, who focused on the richness of the alumni network. How can you maximize your talent thanks to the Career Centre? Which tools best encourage innovation and create business opportunities? And above all, what’s the best way to use the network?
Emmanuel Delamarre then led a little game to round off. And yes, “Because wolves come from the North” was indeed one of the EDHEC slogans! In addition to the private jokes and anecdotes about the school and its students, the inter-Class Year game also brought to light not only the impressive number of "EDHEC couples” present in the hall, but also the great distances some participants had travelled to be there. From Oslo to Aix en Provence, from Macon to London, motivation and enthusiasm were the order of the day to celebrate these Class anniversaries.
The moment finally came to announce the best represented Class on this unforgettable Campus Day. Congratulations to the class of 1972, who managed to get over 20% of the original student body to turn out, 30 years after graduating! The Classes of '52, '67 and '92 were all hot on its heels. The champagne flowed as old friends and colleagues got together to enjoy this unique moment.
After a photo session for posterity, the former students gathered for an aperitif in the school forum. While certain classes tasted the delicacies served in the campus restaurant, others continued to celebrate the reunion in town…How it ended is for you to say!
Emotion, memories, sharing and caring… you all passed with flying colours.
That’s yet another happy anniversary to add to the milestones!
