BP European Financial Control and Accounting (EFCA) programme
The programme BP's European Financial Control and Accounting (EFCA) programme offers you the opportunity to take on three different assignments in three different European countries in three and a half years. As well as gaining instant exposure to a broad spectrum of commercial and financial control activities, you will have the opportunity to become a qualified accountant (ACCA). Opportunities exist in the following areas depending on your strengths, skills and interests: Financial reporting Business and financial control Management of accounting services Management information analysis and design Performance analysis Cash management Project management In a programme that lasts three and a half years, you will undertake three different roles: Your first assignment is 12 months in your home country* in order to create a basis for returning to this country on graduation from the programme. The second assignment is 12 months in the UK head-offices (Greater London) in order to get a broader view of BP's activities and develop your networks. The final assignment takes place in another European country for 12 to 18 months to further broaden your experience base and provide international exposure. After finishing the programme you will return to your contractual home country for further development of your career. * In 2007, we will be offering positions in: Spain, Germany and Poland. Entry requirements We are looking for European graduates from leading business schools and universities. You will need: A Bachelors or Masters degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics; a business-related Bachelors or Masters degree, or an MBA International Mobility: you will start your career in your home country* and move to the UK and another European country during the programme. Fluency in two European languages including English and one of the following: French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Italian, Polish, Greek, Turkish, Danish, Finnish or Swedish. A successful applicant is likely to be fluent in three or more European languages, including English. The right to work within the European Union or ability to obtain a work permit. Learning and development Roles on the programme are matched to your individual development needs, to help you progress in specific skill areas. They are also intended to give you a better understanding of BP's business processes and the BP organization. A development panel, made up of senior managers, manages your job rotations and identifies opportunities across the BP Group. You will also have a mentor to help you meet your individual development needs and preferences. During the three and half years programme, you will be supported to obtain your professional accountancy (ACCA) qualification. This means you will get study leave to attend classes and revision courses in London and the costs of this are covered. ACCA The ACCA (Association of Certified Chartered Accountants) is one of the world's leading professional accounting bodies and is recognised as offering a truly global qualification. With ACCA you will become a valued and respected professional and have access to an unrivalled network in 170 countries. ACCA provides students with the accounting knowledge and skills to prepare and analyse financial accounts and management accounting reports. The Qualification will enable you to apply your knowledge and to exercise professional judgment in the implementation of business processes and structural change. Once qualified, you will be able to offer guidance on appropriate tax & legal issues and be familiar with the roles of internal & external auditing. You will also be considered highly competent in areas of SOx compliance, ethics and corporate governance.
