Asian Business and Culture: the BBA's student association for a better understanding of Asian culture
To mark the Lunar New Year, we would like to tell you more about the EDHEC BBA association making it easier for all students on the EDHEC Lille campus to understand the ins and outs of Asian culture.
"Since 2016, Asian Business & Culture has been planning and organising events to highlight the richness of Asian culture. It tries to bring people together who have a common interest in Asia, its culture and career opportunities there.
Today Asia occupies a particularly important place in the lives of students, both culturally and economically. Younger generations are showing increasing interest in this culture and see the region as highly promising for their future careers. Countries like China, Japan and South Korea can no longer be overlooked on the job market. The influence of Asia is also on the rise with the increasing popularity of specific cultures, as reflected in South Korean soft power.
The Lunar New Year is our flagship event
Each year, the week of the Lunar New Year begins with the installation of intricate decorations around the Lille campus, including dragons, balloons, etc. In line with tradition, the wishing tree again features this year. In this festive atmosphere, a daily activity is organised throughout the week. This year, we began with a workshop decorating lanterns. Each participant could buy one, personalise it and hang it as part of the décor for the week-long event. We also ran initiations to calligraphy, where students had the chance to learn about the rudiments of this delicate art form. This educational and fun activity was a resounding success.
The events offered by the Asian Business & Culture association are accessible to all and help us develop a reputation within EDHEC. Each year, collaborations with other associations and/or the arrival of new sponsors pave the way for increasingly large-scale and ambitious projects. Our aim is to develop the association, broaden our appeal and expand our projects, including plans to organise a trip for first-time visitors to Asia.
