A look back on EDHEC Online programmes by a Bachelor of Science graduate

Our EDHEC Online courses offer participants new profiles with complementary expertise in business. Ange-François Félix, who obtained his Online Bachelor’s degree in Management & Commerce (BSc) a few months ago, is one of them. Some new blood with a hybrid set of knowledge and skills …

EDHEC Online: a broad range to choose from

Ange-François decided to pursue his studies directly after graduating from AgroSup Dijon. “At the agronomic engineering school, I developed a very scientific, rational and concrete mindset. During my final-year internship, when I designed, created and commercialised a range of food products, I realised that managerial relations and the business dimension (accounting performance, developing resources, etc.) were essential to any company. And so I decided to sign up for the BSc to perfect my knowledge before entering the active working world.” With hindsight, it was “the marketing concepts and the development of human relations in a professional environment” that particularly made an impression on Ange-François.

Ange-François then turned to the EDHEC Online Certificate in Corporate Finance for the additional “essential elements, from fundraising to accounting and financial performance” needed to set up a company. “Analysis of a company’s overall performance in both human and economic terms reinforced what he had learned in the Online Management & Commerce course!

EDHEC Online BSc: an academic grounding for the working world

Ultimately, how do candidates with such different backgrounds align themselves with the central objective of the Online BSC? “You adapt very quickly as the course is designed to be accessible to all. The various discussions – between students or with the course moderators – quickly put you at ease. Ange-François emphasises the wealth of these exchanges: “a lot of individual work is based on your personal experience. Having a different background to the “traditional” business school education allows you to think about your past experiences with a fresh perspective.”

Earlier in the year we looked at the effectiveness of the support offered in the EDHEC Online courses, and the example of Ange-François – who had never been immersed in the corporate world outside of his internship – speaks volumes. Beginning with an open-minded career plan at the start of the course, this young graduate “discovered certain skills linked to management and the business dimension”, areas he had never previously explored in any tangible way. “My goals became more refined as the year went on and I started to target my job search towards senior production positions in the agri-food industry.” He has now just been recruited as the head of a production team at Bigard.

EDHEC Online candidates: alumni with new solutions for society

In his third year at AgroSup Dijon, Ange-François opted for the SUFFICIENT specialisation (Sustainable Food Formulation, Innovation, Choice of Ingredient, ENergy & Trade challenge), applied to research and development for agri-food products. That meant he was particularly motivated by the work involved: “creating and following a project from the very beginning (discussions with project developers) right up to the design phase (creation of prototypes in line with the specifications).” Because responsibility and project management are not incompatible! The 2025 “Impact Future Generations” strategic plan, embodied by EDHEC and its 47,000 students and graduates, will need candidates like Ange-François to lay the groundwork for a more sustainable future.

All of the EDHEC Online offers can be found on the official website: online.edhec.edu. EDHEC graduates (from all programmes) benefit from a 25% discount on EDHEC Online courses.
