“Augmented” legal experts: when legal skills alone are not enough

The LegalEDHEC research centre has published the results of a study involving 100 leading players in the legal sector to identify the key skills of the “augmented” legal expert, in partnership with the Association Française des Juristes d’Entreprise. It has also formed a partnership with Seraphin.Legal to develop the first online skills repository designed to help the legal sector manage its human resources.

The study suggests that in order to adapt to a VUCA environment (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, Ambiguity), legal practitioners need to develop multiple forms of intelligence and competencies. While soft skills are considered prerequisites to be recruited, digital skills are emerging as essential for candidates who wish to stand out.
