"Make an Impact for Good" Sustainability Programme

Investing in Nature: What's the value of protecting biodiversity?

Wednesday 26th February - 6.30pm UK time | Institut Français, London

At the recent UN Biodiversity COP 16 in Colombia, discussions on investing in nature showed some progress but highlighted the continued lack of a clear strategy for resource mobilisation. Without decisive action, achieving the Global Biodiversity Framework's 2030 goals will become increasingly difficult.

In light of this, it is now essential that biodiversity investments take priority for governments and businesses that impact or depend on natural resources.

EDHEC Alumni UK and France Alumni are delighted to invite you to a thought-provoking discussion that will prove the business case for investing in nature.

WHY ATTEND?

  • Gain insights from a diverse group of experts on how to effectively direct capital towards conservation and regeneration projects

  • Be inspired by real-world case studies of successful biodiversity investments

  • Connect with like-minded professionals over a networking cocktail

QUICK ANNOUNCEMENT

This event will also serve as the official launch of our annual bursary programme, dedicated to supporting EDHEC master’s students from less privileged backgrounds. The scholarship is open to students enrolled in one of the following three programmes focused on sustainability:

  • EDHEC MSc in Climate Change and Sustainable Finance
  • EDHEC MSc in Global & Sustainable Business
  • Sustainable Impact Project (SIP) programme (BBA)

Last year, thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised approximately £7,000, which helped support two students in their academic journeys. This year, we’re targeting £10,000, which would enable us to support a third student and expand the reach of the programme.

In 2023, the bursary supported:

  • Thomas Smith - Thomas joined EDHEC in 2021 as a CROUS scholarship recipient and is currently in the final year of his studies. His professional project focuses on social impact, with an interest in community spaces and agroecology. He plans to either create a nourishing community space in London or work with UN Habitat.

  • Chiadon Grace Seka - Currently in the second year of her Master's, Chiadon is pursuing a dual degree in partnership with Mines ParisTech. She aspires to a career in Investment Banking or Private Equity. In parallel, she is committed to advancing women in finance, serving as secretary for the Women in Finance association.
