The Internal Audit Programme
Starting your Abbey career in Internal Audit is a fantastic opportunity to learn exactly how we operate. The skills that you'll develop as an Auditor here are highly valued at the most senior levels and many of our future managers and leaders will come via the Audit path.
We involve Trainee Auditors in a wide range of work, including research and evaluation of different parts of the Abbey business, testing and evaluation of processes and controls, and making recommendations for improvements. This is a real job from day one, with the potential to make real and rapid progress.
To begin with, you'll attend the same induction programme as all other Abbey Graduates. Then you'll start your structured development programme as a Trainee Auditor, gaining a broad understanding of our organisation and undertaking short work placements. And since Internal Audit is a global Santander function, you can expect to gain experience alongside colleagues from the wider group.
With our support and sponsorship, you should have made substantial progress toward completion of ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) qualifications within 12 months, leading to appointment as a Junior Auditor.
The audit team is based at our Head Office in Triton Square in London, but you can expect to spend time away on location.
To be considered for this Programme you must have, or expect to get, a 2:1 degree or equivalent, preferably in Finance/Accounting, IT, Business or another subject with a significant financial or accounting content. We'll also be looking for an understanding of the financial services industry and an open-minded, proactive approach to work.
